What is a Keyword?
What is a Keyword?
A keyword or keyword phrase are the terms that you would use to find something on the Internet. For example if you are looking for information about where to buy pizza in San Antonio Texas you would put "pizza San Antonio Texas" (do not include the "") in the search box and look at the results. You should find a number of stores that sell pizza in San Antonio among the first results.
I you searched only for pizza, your results would be all over the world not just in San Antonio Texas. That is called a local search or a local keyword phrase.
OK! I know what keywords and keyword phrases are. What do I do with them?
Lets go back a step and re-look at keywords. You have a business online. You want to attract customers to your site. Now you must learn what keywords people would use to find your site. Once you have a list of at least 30 keywords it is time to use them.
As an Online Business Owner, How do I Use Keywords?
You start to write posts and pages on your blog using the keywords and keyword phrases. Pick one or two keywords or keyword phrases and use them multiple times in your post or page. Don't use them so often that it destroys the rhythm of the post or page. But use them when appropriate and if possible in the title. You want a keyword density of between 2% and 4%.
What is Keyword Density?
Keyword density is the percentage of times the keyword or keyword phrase is used per 100 words in your post or page.
Until the next time,
